Description:

The Electrical Test Technician position reports to the Electrical Panel Assembly (EPA) Supervisor and is responsible for functionally testing and troubleshooting ECU/chiller electrical control panels, power distribution units, remote controls and other electrical control devices. Responsible for final electrical functional tests, continuity tests and troubleshooting electrical equipment prior to shipment.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manages receipt and quality inspection of incoming material.
    • Tests and inspects subassembly and complete control panels, power distribution units, remote controls and other electrical devices in accordance with approved work instructions, processes and procedures.
    • Performs final electrical inspection testing of completed ECUs and chillers as part of final product quality assurance prior to shipment in accordance with approved work instructions, processes and procedures.
    • As required troubleshoots electrical control panels, PLC faults, electrical circuits and component failures during assembly, performance testing and final inspection.
    • Performs EPA product quality inspections when requested.
    • Completes and maintains accurate inspection records for production and quality accountability.
    • Completes and signs-off traveler/router paperwork for completed work activities.
    • Assists the EPA supervisor to develop new production work instructions, assembly procedures and wiring methods for new products.
    • Consistently achieves required product quality requirements. Reports all product quality issues to management immediately after detection.
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining a high level of 5S workplace organization for assign work station(s).
    • Responsible for adherence to Tekgard Quality Manual, safety and corporate policies, Standards of Conduct, rules and procedures.
    • Offers new ideas and methods to achieve continual improvement.
    • Maintains a clean and safe work environment
    • Performs related functions as required.

Description:

This position is critical to the success of Tekgard’s new product development business. The Prototype & Production Specialist is responsible for planning, assembly and problem solving for prototype (first time build) products and low volume production orders. Works closely and collaborates the engineering personnel to successfully build new products that satisfy customer requirements. Determines best assembly sequence to support future production runs and documents all “as built” conditions to engineering. Assist production department to define optimum build sequence and work instructions.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Tests and inspects subassembly and complete control panels, power distribution units, remote controls and other electrical devices in accordance with approved work instructions, processes and procedures.
    • Responsible for a high level of machine assembly proficiency including mechanical, refrigeration, brazing and welding skills.
    • Basic electrical theory/troubleshooting.
    • Responsible for reading and understanding engineering drawings, bills of material, refrigeration schematics and technical documentation.
    • In collaboration with employees and management will be directly involved with:
      1. Productivity improvements
      2. Reduction of customer and internal deficiencies
      3. Local line inventory management
      4. Workplace organization (5S)
      5. Continuous Improvement Program
      6. Work Instructions

      8. Communication boards
    • Test and troubleshoot ECU’s.
    • Efficiently process prototype assemblies ensuring compliance to engineering requirements and company quality practices.
    • Provide “hands on” assembly to achieve engineering prototype requirements including as needed assistance for test lab set-up, testing and troubleshooting.
    • Provide “red-lined” drawings and Bill of Materials during prototype assembly to assist engineering with creation of accurate details and part lists for seamless procurements and production builds.
    • Provide technical support/input to assembly personnel prior to start of production builds.
    • Participate in early engineering design planning providing insight to optimize component layout, tubing runs, sequential assembly and issues of manufacturability, service, reliability, and assembly.
    • As required participate in customer field service calls, assisting with troubleshooting of equipment and coordination of repair. Expected to travel on occasions that warrant onsite presence.
    • Assists in failure analysis & investigations on behalf of engineering by providing technical insight. Collaborate with engineering and quality to develop sound corrective actions.
    • During customer training take lead role providing instructions for field replacement of components.
    • Coordinate between production and engineering to identify opportunities to improve production and quality processes to achieve continuous improvement.
    • Perform on-line quality inspections as necessary.
    • Create and maintain necessary records for production and quality accountability.
    • Serve to bridge communication between Engineering/Prototype and the Production Supervisor.
    • Meet customer’s product quality requirements. Report any product quality issues.
    • Ability to multi task in fast paced shop assembly environment.
    • Must have a high degree of mobility to perform various assembly activities and interface/coordinate with engineering, production and management personnel in multiple plant locations.
